Nellie is going to be a favourite!

Posted by Nancy Stroop on

Nellie (named after my maternal Grandmother) is going to become your new favourite bag to sew.

I first made this bag well over a year ago as many people know.

Time again got away and I hadn’t written the pattern instructions so it could be released. Well I have finally done them and Nellie is ready.

1 pattern, 6 exterior options and 4 lining options

This is going to be a favourite amongst bag makers.

You could make Nellie from all cotton fabric or use cork, vinyl or leather for the exterior and cotton fabric for the lining.

I have included extras in the PDF including diagrams for colour combination choices, extra material lists and 2 cutting lists, one for an all cotton bag, and the other is for cork and cotton. Of course you can make Nellie from whatever fabric you like.

You even have a few different options for the lining, with the option of having no pockets or 1 or 2 pockets.

The choice is yours and you’ll have fun making different combinations.

Magnetic snap closure in the lining.

A fully adjustable cross body strap

This pattern is suitable for beginners but equally will be an easy sew for the more experienced sewer.

Measures 22cm wide x 24cm high x 8cm deep (8 3/4” x 9 1/2” x 3 1/8”)

This pattern is complete with a list of materials required, in Metric and Imperial, detailed pattern
instructions with diagrams and photographs, numbered pattern pieces, a cutting list, a straight cut list and
pattern piece labels.

Chris Cross Pack is live!

Posted by Nancy Stroop on

I have just released another new PDF bag pattern.

The Chris Cross Pack Bag

It’s a cross body and a backpack in one bag. So I’ve called it a Cross Pack.

A bag to suit many needs and situations.

Featuring two zip pockets, one on the front and one in the lining of the bag.

There is also a ‘hidden’ pocket to stash away more of your belongings.

Chris is a bag for women and men alike.

A great bag for travelling, it has options to change from a Cross Body Bag to a Backpack in a flash.
Large enough to comfortably fit a tablet or iPad.

The bag is aimed at the intermediate sewer, but a confident beginner could also make the bag.
Either way you’ll have to read the instructions and see for yourself.

The Chris Cross Pack Bag will become a favourite bag to sew.
Once you make one, you will want to make more and more.

Measures 28cm wide x 33cm high x 8.5cm deep(11” x 13” x 3 3/8”)
(Not including Handle Strap)

This pattern is complete with a list of materials required, in Metric and Imperial, detailed pattern
instructions with diagrams and photographs, numbered pattern pieces, a cutting list, a straight cut list and
pattern piece labels.

Choose contrasting or complementary fabrics for a truly individual look.

Easy to make, quick to sew.

My first pattern release for 2018!

There’s a new lady in town and she is going to make you want her.

The Ruth Clutch Wallet will be sure to turn heads.

Ruth is a very special name in my life. My Mum and my Grandma both shared this as their middle name. The tradition has continued with my beautiful Granddaughter Bayleigh Ruth.

I started designing this wallet over a year ago and made a few prototypes, that I tested with everyday use.
I always received lovely comments on the wallet from friends and even strangers.
Hours turned into days, then weeks, and finally after over a year the pattern is now available.

I’d love to see what you make from my pattern, so please share them on social media and tag me.

Let’s get the word out there!

Ruth has arrived and she’s here to stay!

The Cash/Card Pouch is great to pop in your bag, or to take with you when you don’t have a lot of room.

$1 from each pattern sold goes to Bowel Cancer Research.

$1 from each ready made Melinda Zip Pouch (any style) also goes to Bowel Cancer Research*

I also have some Melinda Pouches for sale in my store NOW!

Melinda is named after my beautiful friend Mel, who through the ups and downs of health issues this year, always has a smile. A truly beautiful soul, with that smile that brightens up anywhere she goes. To be able to stay so positive and strong is truly an inspiration to me. Her courage is beyond amazing. Well on the way to spending a long and happy life with her beloved Chris by her side, Mel continues to fight against the disease that invaded her body, kicking it to the kerb, and keeping it there, with every treatment of chemo.

Here is Mel with her very own set of the pouches. I sent her a set as a gift. Made from her favourite yellow roses with green lining.

There is a back story to the yellow roses.

In brief Mel’s Grandmother Nancy, (seriously, what a coincidence) carried yellow roses on her wedding day, as did Mel, when she married the wonderful Chris, a few years ago.

When I originally asked Mel if she would mind me naming the collection after her, I asked her favourite flower and colour. Hence, the set that I made especially for her just had to have her favourites. They arrived yesterday and I think that it couldn’t have been better timing. Mel had chemo yesterday and even though I’m sure she was tired, still wrote a beautiful post which she shared on her Facebook page as well as mine.

I’m so pleased that Mel likes her gift, and took these lovely pics for me.

As a reminder to all, if you have any symptoms that cause you concern, go to your doctor, get it checked out. Don’t wait, your family and friends need you.

The Nellie Cross Body Bag

Posted by Nancy Stroop on

So I have finally made a bag from real leather. OMG I love it.

The Nellie Cross Body Bag is a new design coming soon to my website.

This bag can also be made from cotton fabric and faux leather too. A perfect size for the essentials, but with enough room for extras. 9" H x 9" W x 3" D (23cm x 23cm x 7.5cm)
A zip pocket in the lining as well a magnetic snap closure makes this bag suitable for a beginner as well as advanced sewers. The front of the bag has a ‘split panel’ with topstitching, to give some interest and detail.
Nellie is fast to make and will suit all ages.

The bag in these photos has no hardware, but if you like you can add strap anchors with D rings and an adjustable strap slider.

I used beautiful soft Hunter Green leather for the exterior and a beautiful peacock feather design quilting cotton fabric for the lining.

The pattern will be released soon.
